"For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out." Is this not one of the most horrible verses of the bible? Does it not register fear that God in His wrath is going to excute judgment on the wicked? And if you dare say, 'I am saved and have nothing to fear in this verse?' Do you not have compassion upon the vast majority of the wicked who are going to perish? God's desire is that none should perish and none should go away from Him. Can you be happy for such a vast amount of lostness upon humanity? For there shall be no reward to the evil man - every man shall receive the rewards of this life, whether good reward or bad reward; A reward is defined by Websters - something that is given in return for good or evil done or received or that is offered or given for some service or attainment. We always associate reward with good or positive. But this verse remnds us that reward is also to those that do evil, they shall receive their just reward. We so often like to think of our rewards in heaven. The blessings, benefits, mercies of the Lord is sweet to consdier. But this verse reminds us that there is also of the dual complex; if there is a good, there is evil; if heaven then hell; if up then down; if right then wrong; if light then darkness. this is the dual concept. The reference is that they shall 'not' receive good rewards for their actions and evil, sinful life. There shall be no crown of life; no crown of righteousenss; no pardon; no heaven; no joy; no rejoicing; no peace. The evil man has made his choice, that he does not want God nor any of His rewards. He has made an open choice to reject God's redemption in Christ, His love and His forgiveness. 'the fool hath said, 'there is no God' and then he dies and meets God face to face. 'And repayeth them that hate Him to their face, to destroy them: He will not be slack to him that hateth Him, He will repay him to his face.' Deut. 5 They will receive their just punishment from the very hand of an angry God. 'It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.' No reward for good, good intent, or positiveness; but a rewarde of punishment, judgment, condemnation and sorrow for the evil man. Oh, are you an evil person? Having rejected all that God would do for you? Then turn today and find life in Christ. Give up the old life of sin, pain and look unto Jesus. escape now before it is too late. Today is the day of salvation, now is the accepting time.
