"For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen." This is the message of humility and pride in ones own self. Are you a proud person or humble person? Do you know self-abasement? For better it is that is be said unto thee - the instruction of being told is layered; Some instruction is optional; some instruction is good; and some is Divine. This starts out with, 'For better it is'; telling us that there is a choice to be made and this is the better way. For those that have experience and wisdom, glean from them the better way. For those that you see evidence of God's mercy and favor, glean from them. Not all that is said unto thee can be expected to be good and right. Discernment must be exercised among us for such times. But there is the word of God speaking and giving counsel. The Word of God is the Divine word to the soul. It is for 'reproof, rebuke, exhortation, instruction and godliness.' Come up hither - word study, to come; What a blessed command. When Christ comes He bids us come up, not go down. The ephasis is on location. Throughout Scripture the view of God is always above: 'Lift up your eyes'; 'Your ways are higher'; 'Christ ascended up to His FAther'; 'He sits above on the heavenly throne'.
