Read & Study the Bible Online - Bible Portal
"Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?" This is not Solomon writing or sharing his wisdom. This comes from 'the words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the propehcy'. So it is that when we read our verse 4 here we see a prophetic note immediately about it. I will not labor in each question but simply address them and do a conclusion for our study of this verse. Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? great questions of the Bibble; there are 5 questions in this one verse; All are asked rheteorically to get us to answer the obvious. There is none that ascends up or descends down from heaven, unless the Lord so permits. He alone allows for ascension and descension. Chrsit is our supreme example here. He descended from His heavenly throne to become 'born of a virgin' for the work of redemption for lost men. He ascended up into heaven in the beginning of Acts to take His place at the right hand of the FAther. And in the end, He shall descened again on a cloud, with the trump of the arch angel, and the dead in Christ shall be raised; and we also, shall be brought up unot Him in the clouds to be with the Lord for evermore. Jacob saw a ladder and said, 'I saw angels ascending and descending from heaven to earth'. They do this at the Lord's bidding. Blessed are they who ascend up into heaven to be there eternally. But cursed are they that descend from heaven, for Lucifer, ol SAtan was cast out. He descended and never more shall ascend into the realm of heaven. Cursed are those that follow his steps. Oh, how many souls have been raptured into heavenly truths, heavenly Presence, heavenly Beings only to descend back to self, back to sin back to hell.
