"I cried unto Thee; save me, and I shall keep Thy testimonies."
word for law - testimonies; This is the second of three straight verses that have David referencing that he cried out to the Lord. so much of this verse is repeated throughout the Psalm. It is a short verse filled with the very necessity of David's heart. I cried unto Thee - the place of desperate and needful petitins and supplications is before the Lord; It is the great image laid out for us in Revelation. There is a golden censer and the angel holds up the golden censer before the Lord. The smoke arises from the censer and is drawn into the Presence of God on His throne; the smoke offered up out of the censer is the prayers of the saints. God hears the petitions of His children. HE is a God that takes delight in answering prayers. 'Call unto Me, and I will answer thee.' Let us make sure that our 'cry' is being offeed unto the Lord. Do not cry on someone else's shoulder. Do not look for consolation somewhere else. It is the before the Lord alone that you will find refuge and strength.
The personal pronoun again, 'I cried'. Is this your testimony? Is this your status? 'Every morning, noon and night I will lift up my prayer unto Thee'. Is this your pracitice and diligence? Daily gathered before Him, rehearsing the burden and desires of your heart to a Holy God that is able to do anything and everything. How wonderful is the thought! Be resolved and diligent to 'cry unto Him', knowing that He the Lord God stands ready to do 'great and mighty things' for you and me. Save me - the first petition that God answers for the lost; He begins with the confession, 'I am lost and am in need of being saved from my sins and my self.' When Peter was sinking, after walking successfully on waters, he cried out, 'save me'. And Christ was quick to rescue. How blessed is our SAvior that hears and answers this two word petition 'Save me.' For most that read this, you rejoice that HE is your SAvior, He has saved you from your sins. 'that shalt call His Name, Jesus, for He shall save Hsi people from their sin.' But the great prayer is continued to be exercised throughout a christian's life: 'Save me from this besetting sin'; 'Save me from the hand of my enemy'; 'Save me from false professors and 'wolves in sheeps clothing'; 'Save me from this world and its defilements'. OH, brethren, how many is the prayers of 'Save me'!
