Don't Forget God! by Harold Vaughan Scripture Reading --Ecclesiastes 12:1a "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth." Remember now. Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow may never come; therefore, today is the time on which we must focus. The Bible tells us to redeem the time, our most valuable resource. That means we must rescue time from loss or buy back time by using it for the glory of God. Our journey through life is brief at best. Now is the time to remember our Creator. Remember our Creator. We are not an accident. God created us, and He created us for a purpose. This verse reminds us that we are God's creation. Psalm 100:3 echoes this thought. "Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." Creators own the products they create. They design their inventions for a specific reason. The Bible says we are "the sheep of His pasture" (Ps. 100:3b). Because we were created by God and for God, we owe our existence to Him. Remember God in our youth. Youth is a time of preparation. During this phase, God is training us. We need to prepare for life with education and training for our occupation. Patterns we formed in childhood tend to stick with us throughout our lives. Remembering God when we are young prepares us not to forget God as we grow older. But we are also preparing for eternity. Life on this planet is temporary, and we're going to live forever somewhere. Saved people go to heaven when they die and give account for their lives on earth. We are accountable for how we live on earth. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (2 Cor. 5:10). Discussion Time: "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom" (Ps. 90:12). What does the phrase "teach us to number our days" mean?
