(1892-1983) Corrie was born to a watchmaker in Amsterdam, Holland, the youngest of three siters and one brother. They were raised in the Dutch Reformed Church. Corrie was outgoing and strong-willed, attended Bible school for two years. In 1920, she began training as a watchmaker and became the first woman watchmaker licensed in Holland. In 1923, she organized girl's clubs, which became the very large Triangle Club. This club was banned by the occupying Nazis in 1940. Corrie is best known for her family's involvement in the Dutch underground, hiding refugees in their own home. In 1944 she was arrested along with entire family. They were interned in Holland, but later removed to the imfamous Ravensbruck prison in Germany. Corrie was released in 1945, just days after sister Betsie died and she returned to Holland. In 1946, Corrie returned to Germany, where she began many years of itinerant preaching, sharing her story of God's love and grace in over 60 countries. She was a prolific writer and her book, The Hiding Place, was made into the popular 1975 movie. She moved to the United States in 1977 and died April 15, 1983 on her 91st birthday.
