(1225-1274) Thomas Aquinaas was born in his family's castle at Roccasecea in Italy and died at the monastery in Fossanova, near Rome. Aquinas was one of the most influential Roman Catholic philosopher/theologians of all time. He was also a very popular preacher among his contemporaries. Auquinas attempted to enter the Dominican order, but was kidnapped by his brothers and brought back to his home, where his family strenuously attempted to abandoned his convictions. He studied the Bible in depth while virtually imprisoned in the home of his parents for two years. He was best known for his work explaining the doctrines of the incarnation and the existence of God through Aristotelian reasoning, his most important contribution being Summa Theologica.
