Colin Peckham (1936 - 2009)

Was Principal of Faith Mission Bible College, Edinburgh. Mary Peckham (nee Morrison) (1932-2010) was born on the Isle-of-Lewis and was converted in the 1949 revival. She spent fourteen years in evangelistic ministry, seeing true revival on two occasions in her ministry, before marrying Colin in 1969. They are both survived by three adult children and two grandchildren.

A life of blessing and fullness stretched before me; a life to be maintained as a constant walk in the Spirit by the vital elements of faith and obedience. On Monday 9th November 2009 at his home in Broxburn near Edinburgh, Scotland, Rev Dr Colin Peckham was suddenly and quietly called home to be with the Lord. There was a service of thanksgiving at Charlotte Chapel, West Rose Street, Edinburgh on Monday 16th November 2009 at 10.30am.

Go!

Fear of the authorities they had hidden behind locked doors. But no, ridiculous or not, the words rang forth with the utmost clarity, 'Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.' The speaker was either completely devoid of His senses-or He was God! Since resurrection this had ... Read More

How to be Filled with the Spirit

All Christians have the Spirit of God (Rom. 8:9) but not all Christians are filled with the Spirit of God. Paul prayed for the Ephesian Christians, who had the Spirit, to be filled with all God's fullness (Eph. 3:19) and he exhorted them to be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18). There is certainly n... Moral Decline

I have waited for the great ones of the earth to sound forth their moral trumpets but I wait in vain, so it falls to my poor lot to put pen to paper over issues which appal me, and I am sure, many like me. These youth sex polls! The revelations! The media exposure! We hold our conversations and anal... Read More

Prayer - Life's Greatest Ministry

Many of us pray just enough to ease the conscience but not enough to win any decided victory. We are playing at praying. we have put very little into it and therefore have received very little from it. Prayer has not been a mighty force but merely a harmless conventionality. Intercession costs. Ther... Read More

Prayer - Life's Vital Breath

Prayer is basic to the advance of Christ's cause. The real work is done where only the eye of God can see. he who would speak much to men for God must speak much to God for men. Only as I truly know Him can I make Him truly known. The apostles said, 'We will give ourselves continually to prayer, and... Read More

Prayer Is Effective

Prayer is effective. In 1858 Charles Lamphier in New York was asked by some men to take over a little hall to keep it open, and he said he would. He had little cards printed and he went out himself to give them to the churches, announcing they were going to have a little prayer meeting in the middle... Read More

Salvation

God in you! That is what makes you a Christian - nothing less than that! A beautiful moral life, regular church attendance, good works, these, however commendable, cannot make you a Christian. There are two aspects of salvation: The negative aspect Forgiveness! Christ takes my sins away! God says: '... Read More

Seed Thoughts on Paul's Commission

But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which your have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. I will deliver you from the Jewish people as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you,... Read More

Struggling for the Highest

As a young Agricultural student I had taken an uncompromising stand for Christ. I was seeking souls, memorising Scripture, preaching in the open air. Christ lived in me! I knew it! I thrilled to it! Yet this rich experience was not an abiding one. There were periods of supreme joy in the Holy Ghost,... Read More

The Conditions of Salvation

Repentance The importance of repentance cannot be over estimated. It is given prominence in Scripture. It involves the whole man, intellectually, emotionally and volitionally. Intellectually it means a complete 'about face' in our thinking. The Greek word literally means 'a change of mind'. We chang... Read More

The Moment of Revival

Scripture reading: 2 Chronicles 7:1-4 In the 16th century we had the great European Reformation. In the 17th century there were continuing movements of the Spirit. In the 18th century we had the enormous spiritual upheaval in England under the ministry of George Whitfield and the Wesleys, when norms... Read More

The New Birth - No Other Way In

Jesus said, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." JESUS said that! This word comes to us from the courts of heaven and carries all the solemnity of eternity. If mere man had uttered these astounding words one could very easily dispense with them as being too extravagant or ... Read More

The Peculiarity of Revival

When Solomon had made preparation for revival by prayer, then came the peculiarity of revival--fire! The fire came down from heaven. There are all kinds of fire these days. There are strange fires. There are man-made fires. We don’t want those. We want the true fire of God to break us and make us. F... Read More

The Price of Revival

"Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices." The price of revival is the burnt offering and the sacrifices. There is a price to pay. There are sacrifices. Our reputation has to go sometimes. When we are rega... Read More

The Purpose of Revival

After the fire consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, we read that "the glory of the Lord filled the house" (2 Chronicles 7:1). This is the purpose of revival. It’s not our glory, and it’s not the salvation of souls. It’s not the blessing of Christians. It’s not the vindication of our doctr... Read More

The Tide is Out

The tide is out. The rocks protrude from the muddy waters, ugly and bare. Stretches of muddy sand mar the former beauty. Footprints show the progress of hopeful mussel, cockle and sea-food collectors. The tide is out. Nothing attractive about the tide being out is there? No living waters moving, swe... Read More

Why So Few Lasting Results?

The problem of evangelisation which produces not lasting results is reaching gigantic proportions. The gospel is being preached. Christians are attending special classes, are trained in the principles of soul-winning and are mobilised to counsel seeking souls. All this is done, yet so many of the se... Read More
