Egotism is an excessive attention to one’s self. This stems from a flawed perspective that you are better or more important than others. However, if we consult the Bible, it teaches humility and preferring others rather than oneself.
The Lord Jesus Christ gave the ultimate example when He was still on this earth. Instead of forcing everyone to worship and believe on Him, and He had all the right to do so, He did not do it. It is because the heart of His mission is toward the needs of others.
We as Christians are also expected by God to put others before ourselves. It may be difficult at first, but if we look onto the example set by Jesus, we can succeed.
