The word “baptism” is derived from the Greek word “baptizo” which means to immerse. Therefore, the literal meaning of water baptism is immersion in water. But what is it? Why do people undergo water baptism?

When the Lord Jesus Christ was still here on earth, He commanded His disciples to teach all nations that He is the Savior and that everyone should believe on Him as the Son of God and Savior of humanity. Once a person has accepted Christ as his Savior, he should be baptized according to God’s instruction.

In the Scripture, water baptism immediately succeeds faith in the Lord Jesus. Baptism in itself does not grant salvation, but it proves that the believer is willing to give up all for Christ, in front of his family, friends, and brethren in Christ.

What are the verses that talk about water baptism?
