This is the third in a series that is debunking misperceptions about sin. Does God hear the prayers of non-Christians? If you take John 9 verse 31 at face value it would seem he doesn't...if you listen to some Christian teachers and leaders you would be led to believe He doesn't. Does God hear a sinner's prayer? To be to the point - yes, God does hear the prayer of sinners. If he didn't, no one wouldn't be able to turn to God. If God only hears the prayers of the saved...then no one could be saved...no one could turn/repent. And we know God does indeed hear the prayer of sinful people who turn to him. This brings up an important point in regard to how we read the Bible - While everything said in the Bible really happened...not everything that any given person recorded in the scriptures said is true. Yes, the Bible says God doesn't hear a sinner's prayer but pay attention to the context. Jesus didn't say that...in fact the "sinner" in question in John 9 is Jesus himself! This is a lesson in paying attention to context and I hope and pray it is helpful to your walk and study!

God is a God of grace and mercy - yes God is just and there is such a thing as judgment. But God is not looking for a way to zap you...as if God is just waiting for you to mess up. God is FOR YOU!
