Those Assyrians had a mouth on them! I can only imagine what the Israelites were feeling. I think they may have wanted to #fight or #flight. Hahaha… Yeah… one of those moments when people say things and make you feel so angered that you want to beat them down… or so fearful that you want to run for your life.
But, King Hezekiah told them to be silent. He told them to not respond. I mean, these jokers had very precise words, and even dared to say that their Lord would succumb to their might, like all the other gods of the many kingdoms conquered in the land of Judah.
I’m glad the people listened to Hezekiah. It reminds me of this old church song, I grew up hearing my momma and her generation sing. “If I hold my peace, and let the Lord fight my battles… Victory… Victory shall be mine.”
Are you feeling pressed to defend yourself? Let me encourage you: #BeSilent #BeStill #DoNotReply … UNLESS the Lord says to reply. Even then, He will give you the words, if necessary. God WILL have the final say! Read Is. 34-39 for yourself! You’ll see… #HeDontPlayAboutHisOwn! #IBelongToHim
