In the midst of intense fear, it can be comforting to turn to God. Maybe you think someone has bad intentions towards you and you need His presence keep you safe from harm. Or maybe you’ve been through a traumatic experience and now you feel like you need His protection more than ever.
But what does it mean to seek comfort in God when you’re feeling paranoid?
It’s important to understand that paranoia is a normal human emotion. Everyone feels paranoid from time to time. It’s only when paranoia starts to interfere with your daily life that it becomes a problem.
If you’re seeking God whenever you’re in the throes of fear, that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with turning to Him for help. He knows our struggles and He is there to comfort us. We can find peace of mind through His words even when everything around us feels chaotic.
These bible verses should give you a reprieve from your uncontrollable thoughts and give your troubled mind much needed rest and reassurance.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”
“No weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and this is their vindication from me,”
declares the Lord.
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
