In the midst of intense fear, it can be comforting to turn to God. Maybe you think someone has bad intentions towards you and you need His presence keep you safe from harm. Or maybe you’ve been through a traumatic experience and now you feel like you need His protection more than ever.

But what does it mean to seek comfort in God when you’re feeling paranoid?

It’s important to understand that paranoia is a normal human emotion. Everyone feels paranoid from time to time. It’s only when paranoia starts to interfere with your daily life that it becomes a problem.

If you’re seeking God whenever you’re in the throes of fear, that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with turning to Him for help. He knows our struggles and He is there to comfort us. We can find peace of mind through His words even when everything around us feels chaotic.

These bible verses should give you a reprieve from your uncontrollable thoughts and give your troubled mind much needed rest and reassurance.

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 3:5 NIV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding.
