“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2

How would you rate your prayer life? Can you honestly say that you are fervently praying to the Lord? How often do you talk to Him? Can you go on a day without praying? Or do you sometimes find yourself waking up in the middle of the night wondering if you have finished talking to God?

One of the best ways to express our love and devotion to God is through praying. Not just praying when needed or once a day, but making it a habit, making it part of our daily routine. Developing this kind of lifestyle in our Christian life is necessary because we can never be spiritually mature without consulting our Creator.

Like how a relationship grows, it will require you to spend a lot of time talking and getting to know each other. So is our relationship with God. He already knows us, so we have to know Him better. Praying to God involves confidence in His promises, humility in our hearts, honesty in our words, and most of all, our consistency in talking to Him.

We can never make praying a habit if we don’t discipline ourselves to spend time with Him. Understand that we pray not because we are in distress but because of who He is. Being steadfast in prayer means that we find joy and peace in talking to Him in every circumstance.

When we make it our lifestyle to pray, you’ll be surprised how God changes how you think and react. You’ll be able to see things from His perspective. You’ll learn how to be grateful in every season of your life. And you’ll see that being thankful and being consistent in prayer is as easy as breathing.

Our prayer life shows precisely the state of our relationship with God. If you find yourself comfortable in not talking to Him and constantly trying to take control of your life, then repent. God doesn’t want lukewarm Christians. He wants your heart to always be on fire for Him.

Discipline yourself to make prayer a reward in your life, that you will always look forward to talking to God. Problems come and go, but our attitude towards God when we pray makes a difference. Do not go on a day without talking to Him numerous times. Also, don’t forget to practice coming to Him with a grateful heart.
