“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.  But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”  Galatians 5:16-18

“Doing what I do not want to do but I do it anyway”, this is what we reflected on in our previous post that none of us are exempted in this kind of situation every day. But it gave us an idea that who can help us overcome that loop of doing what we do not want to do? The holy spirit of God.

Today we reflect on walking by the spirit. Going deeper in it, what does truly walking in spirit means?

Our human nature in flesh gets satisfaction all over the corner to make us happy and filled. The thing is there are many options surrounding us that appears to fill our longings. And here, we insert the flesh versus the spirit. If we look at only the flesh, its desires are unguided and it can do whatever it wants, while with the spirit, it gives one the wisdom of God’s will and the power to fight against the desires of the flesh and that causes a waging war inside. To confirm, yes, there is a waging war inside all of us Christians, that is why we struggle, because walking with the spirit gives us this consciousness. We need the help of God, we cannot live on our own and so to help us walk with the spirit, let us rejoice and be glad in the Lord alone before anything else, let us be filled with His love, let us commune and be in constant fellowship with Him and rest in His presence, word and promises.

So today, be encouraged rather than being discouraged when you feel struggling, as we progress each day by walking in the spirit, we experience waging war inside of us. Not being under the burden of the law anymore but rather, under the mercy and grace of our Lord in Christ, may this give us the capability and the power to let the Spirit win over the flesh. For what the law requires, is what we produce when we walk by the spirit.
