Proclaimed for preached, A.V.; as their attendant for to their minister, A.V. ( ὑπηρέτην ). It is a word taken from the synagogue, where it denotes an inferior minister (see Luke 4:20 ). In Acts 5:22 the ὑπηρέται are the apparitors of the high priest. Here it is synonymous with διάκονος , a deacon.
