The reproach of their enemies was always felt by the Israelites as a bitter aggravation of their afflictions (see Psalms 42:10 ; Psalms 44:13-16 ; Psalms 79:4 ; Psalms 80:6 , etc.). They that are mad against me are sworn against me; rather, use me as their curse (comp. Jeremiah 29:22 ).
