Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The Saviour in the fire. "The form of the fourth" ( Daniel 3:3 ). A sketch of the further developments of the history will well introduce the following topics. I. THE SAVIOUR OF THE KING 'S IMAGINATION . "Like unto a son of the gods." The king was certainly not acquainted with the Hebrew doctrine of the Messiah, and even if he were, the appellation, "Son of God," would not be familiar to him.
