Verse 1 1.Now Moses kept the flock. We have already said that he was occupied as a shepherd for a long time (viz., about forty years) before this vision appeared to him. I am the God of thy father - Though the word אבי abi , father, is here used in the singular, St Stephen, quoting this place, Acts 7:32 , uses the plural, Ὁ Θεος των πατερων σου , The God of thy Fathers; and that this is the meaning the following words prove: The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
