These things speak and exhort - Notes, 1 Timothy 6:2.And rebuke with all authority - 1 Timothy 5:1, note, 20, note; 2 Timothy 4:2 note. The word “authority” here means command - ἐπιταγὴ epitagē; 1Co 7:6, 1 Corinthians 7:25; 2Co 8:8; 1 Timothy 1:1; Titus 1:3. The sense here is, he was to do it decidedly, without ambiguity, without compromise, and without keeping anything back.
