Those Who Went Down Into Egypt (Genesis 46:8-27 ). There now follows a catalogue of ‘all the souls who came into Egypt.’ At first sight this is rather an understatement. It excludes his sons’ wives (Genesis 46:26) and ignores retainers and camp followers.
