They became sore afraid . There is a slight change of reading here. Instead of ἧσαν γὰρ ἔκφοβοι the best authorities give ἔκφοβοι γὰρ ἐγένοντο . A sense of great awe and terror overpowered the bliss and brightness of the scene.
