The Oracles Against Egypt (Ezekiel 29:1 to Ezekiel 32:32 ). This section of the book is composed of seven oracles issued against Egypt. The fact that there are seven is probably deliberate in order to emphasise the divine completeness of the condemnation, for throughout the Near East seven was the number of divine perfection. The Sixth Oracle. A Lament Over Pharaoh and Egypt (Ezekiel 32:1-16 ). The date of the oracle is March 585 BC. It follows the destruction of Jerusalem. The versions vary, seeking to alter the date to before that in Ezekiel 33:21 (probably to maintain a smooth chronology). But there is no valid reason to do so. read more
