By metonymy, this means that the total military power of Israel will be destroyed in the valley of Jezreel. This occurred exactly as Hosea prophesied, for it was in that very valley that the crushing defeat of Israel by Shalmanezer resulted in the final ruin of the kingdom and the deportation of its inhabitants to Assyria, from which disaster Israel never recovered. read more
