CRITICAL NOTESLuke 7:1. In the audience.—Lit. “in the ears of the people” (R.V.).Luke 7:2. Servant.—I.e. slave. Who was dear unto him.—Or, “who was in much esteem with him.” This is peculiar to St. Luke. Sick,—“Sick of the palsy, grievously tormented” (Matthew 8:6).
