1. Hear this word As in Amos 3:1; Amos 5:1. Ye kine Jerome, who was followed by some later writers, understood this to apply to the effeminate nobility, “the rulers of Israel and all the leading men of the ten tribes who spent their time in pleasure and robbery”; others limit it to the nobles condemned in Amos 3:9 ff.
