In this chapter we have,

(1,) Jonah’s prayer in the fish’s belly, representing the danger and distress he was in, 2, 3, 5, 6; the despair to which he was almost reduced, and the encouragement he took to himself in this deplorable condition, 4-7.

(2,) His warning to others, 8.

(3,) His ascription of praise and thanksgiving to God, 9.

(4,) He is safely restored to dry land by the fish, 10.
