In this chapter,
(1,) Christ, in vindicating his disciples for plucking ears of corn, and his own healing a withered hand, on the sabbath, shows that works of necessity and mercy are lawful on that day, Luke 6:1-11 .
(2,) After retiring for solemn prayer, he chooses and appoints twelve of his disciples to be apostles, Luke 6:12-16 .
(3,) Coming down to the multitude assembled in the plain, he cures many persons afflicted with different diseases, Luke 6:17-19 .
(4,) In the audience of his newly-chosen apostles, he repeats many remarkable passages of his sermon before delivered on the mount, Luke 6:20-49 .
