Introduction
A.M. 4049. A.D. 45.
In this chapter,
(1,) After successfully preaching the gospel at Iconium, persecution causes Paul and Barnabas to flee to Lystra, Derbe, and the places adjacent, Acts 14:1-7 .
(2,) At Lystra they heal a lame man; upon which the people could scarcely be restrained from worshipping them as gods, Acts 14:8-18 .
(3,) Quickly after, instigated by the Jews, they stoned Paul till they thought he was dead, Acts 14:19 , Acts 14:20 .
(4,) They visit the churches which they had lately planted, in order to appoint elders, or pastors, to feed and rule the flocks, Acts 14:21-23 .
(5,) Returning to Antioch, they report what things the Lord had done by the gospel in their hands, Acts 14:24-28 .
