In this chapter the apostle
(1,) Foretels again the great departure from practical godliness which should prevail in the Christian world, and the enemies to the truth and holiness of the gospel which should arise in it, 2 Timothy 3:1-9 .
(2,) He proposes his own example for Timothy’s imitation, in opposition to them, 2 Timothy 3:10-13 .
(3,) He exhorts him to adhere to the doctrines which he had learned from him and from the Scriptures, which, being inspired by God, are sufficient to direct men in the way of salvation, 2 Timothy 3:14-17 .
