Jeremiah 50:15. She hath given her hand— Giving the hand, is a token of consenting to any conditions offered. See 2Ki 10:15 and Lamentations 5:6. Dare manus, (to give the hand,) in Latin signifies, to yield; and most probably alludes to the act of the vanquished, who, throwing down his arms, and stretching forth his defenceless hands, acknowledges himself to be in the victor's power.
