Martyr (628), died Bethsaloe, Assyria. A Persian magician and a soldier in the army of Khusrau, he was converted to Christianity when that monarch carried the Holy Cross from Jerusalem to Persia. He was sent to Bethsaloe, imprisoned, strangled, and decapitated. Patron of goldsmiths; invoked against headaches. Relics at Rome. Feast, Roman Calendar, January 22,.
