Sculptor; nephew and student of Luca della Robbia. Born in 1431 in Florence, Italy; died there in 1528. He is best known as the sculptor of the Bambini, or swathed infants, which decorate the exterior of the Foundling Hospital in Florence, and The Meeting of Saint Francis and Saint Dominic in the loggia of the hospital of San Paolo in the same city. Five sons, including Giovanni, Girolamo, and Luca the Younger, worked with him.
