(1808-1838) Martyr, Vicar Apostolic of Western Tonkin, born Beynat, France. He sailed for the Chinese missions in 1830, and in 1832 was transferred from Macao to Tonkin, where he was beheaded (November 24,). His remains were transferred to Paris, 1843. Beatified, 1900.
