Kamel, George Joseph (1661-1706) Botanist, born Brünn, Moravia; died Manila, Philippines. He entered the Society of Jesus as a lay brother, 1682, and in 1688, was sent to the Philippines as a missionary. He made valuable investigations of the plants and natural history of the islands which were published in the "Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society," and wrote an extensive work on "Medicinal Plants of the Philippines."
