Founded at Corneto in 1771 by Saint Paul of the Cross as part of his order of Passionists, with Faustina Costantini as co-foundress. The order is contemplative and strictly enclosed. Their activities, aside from duties of piety, consist of domestic work, needlework, and the making of vestments. The order has 10 houses in Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, and the United States. The provincial mother-house and novitiate for the United States is at Carrick; near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where there are 28 religious.
