(Latin: disparitas cultus)

A diriment impediment to matrimony which occurs when one party is a Catholic and the other is unbaptized. Unless by dispensation, such a marriage is null; and for the granting of the said dispensation the signing of certain promises is required, pledging non-interference with the religion of the Catholic party and with the Catholic baptism and training of the children, and also that no ceremony will take place except that before a Catholic priest.
