Confessor, Bishop of Paris, born near Autun, France, 496; died Paris, France, 576. He was Abbot of Saint Symphorien near Autun and was promoted in 555 to the see of Paris, where he exercised a reforming influence on King Childebert. In 588 he dedicated the church of Saint Vincent, which, after Germain's relics had been translated therein 754, received his own name.
