June 27, in honor of the 13th-century Byzantine painting brought to Rome in the 15th century, venerated in the church of San Matteo and later in the church of the Redemptorists. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin under this title many graces have been obtained and Pope Pius IX approved the coronation of the picture by the Vatican Chapter, 1867, and established the feast, 1876, but not for universal observance.
