The most distinguished member of the artistic Pilcher family. Son of Johann Pichler; half- brother and pupil of Giovanni Pichler. Born Rome, Italy in 1773; died there in 1854. Executed innumerable cameos and gems for the popes and sovereigns of his day. His "Head of Ajax" is in a gold case in the Vatican collection.
