A branch of the Plymouth Brethren. They are the result of a breach in 1890, when controversy arose regarding the subject of eternal life. They hold that there is only one Church of God and all true Christians belong to it. Christ is the head of this Church, which is His body, and which He will eventually take to heaven where it will rule with Him over the earth in what is commonly called the millennium. They are scattered throughout the Northern states of the United States, with a few in the South, and are very numerous in the British Empire.
This dictionary contains not only definitions and explanations of every subject in Religion, Scripture, tradition, doctrine, morals, sacraments, rites, customs, devotions and symbolism, but also accounts of the Church in every continent, country, diocese; missions, notable Catholic centers, cities, and places with religious names; religious orders, church societies, sects and false religions. It has brief articles also on historical events and personages, on the Old Testament and New, and on popes, prelates, priests, men and women of distinction, showing what the Church has done for civilization and correcting many errors which have hitherto passed for history.Wikipedia
