Vicariate Apostolic of Bukoba erected April 8, 1929 from the Vicariate Apostolic of Tabora and Vicariate Apostolic of Uganda; entrusted to the White Fathers. Elevated to the diocese of Bukoba on March 25, 1953. Name changed to the diocese of Rulenge on June 21, 1960.
