is derived by some from words suggesting the fingers of a hand, or a fist. The word is frequent in the Gospels. Pentakis, "five times," is found in 2—Corinthians 11:24; pentakosioi, "five hundred," in Luke 7:41; 1—Corinthians 15:6; pentakischilioi, "five thousand" (chilios, "a thousand"), in Matthew 14:21; 16:9 and corresponding passages.
