In Matthew 24:31; Mark 13:27 the four "winds" stand for the four cardinal points of the compass; so in Revelation 7:1 , "the four winds of the earth" (cp. Jeremiah 49:36; Daniel 7:2 ); the contexts indicate that these are connected with the execution of Divine judgments.
