Aldrich, Jonathan, a Baptist minister, was born at St. Johnsbury, Vt., Sept. 14,1799. He was a graduate of Brown University in the class of 1826, and studied at the Newton Theological. Institution one year ῥ(1826-27). He was ordained at West Dedham, Mass., in January, 1828. His pastorates were in West Dedham, Beverly, East Cambridge, Worcester, Newburyport, all in Mass.; Baltimore, Md.; and Framingham and Middleborough, Mass. He was for some time the district secretary for New England of- the American Baptist Missionary Union. His death occurred at Worcester, Jan. 17, 1862. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
