Amoureux, Abraham Cesar L
a French sculptor, was born at Lyons in 1644, and studied under Couston the elder. He did some very fine. work in the different churches of Lyons. He was invited to Copenhagen in 1682, where he executed the gilded leaden statue of Christian V, king of Denmark, which was placed before the Royal Palace in 1688.

John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
