An'ethothite, An'etothite less correct forms of Anglicizing the word ANATHOTHITE. SEE ANATHOTH. The variations in the orthography of the name, both in Hebrew and the A.V., should be noticed.
1. The city: In 1 Kings 2, 26, and Jer 32:9, it is עֲנָתֹת, and similarly in 2Sa 23:27, with the article; Anathoth.
2. The citizens: Anethothite, 2Sa 23:27; Anetothite, 1Ch 27:12; Antothite, 1Ch 11:28; 1Ch 12:3. "Jeremiah of Anathoth," Jer 29:27, should be "Jeremiah the Anathothite."

John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock.
