Arnot, David a Scottish bishop, was elected to the see of Galloway in 1509. He was a native of Carnbee, and abbot of Cambuskennith in 1503, which abbey he possessed until his election to the see of Galloway in 1509, where he sat until his death, in 1526. See Keith, Scottish Bishops, p. 277.

John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
