Battaglini, Marco, an Italian prelate and antiquary, was born March 25, 1645, of a noble family, in a little town of the diocese of Rimini. In 1690 he was appointed bishop of Nocera, in Umbria, and in 1716 was made bishop of Cesena, in the Romagna, and died Sept. 19, 1717. He is the author of, Istoria Universale di tutti Concilii Generali e Particoliari celebrati nelli Chiesa (Venice, 1686 a. o.). John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
