Blondel, Laurent a French ascetic writer and hagiographer, was born in Paris in 1671. He had a vast knowledge of books of all kinds. After devoting himself for several years to the education of the children of Chaillot, he had charge of the printing-office at Desprez. He died at Evreux, July 25, 1740. He wrote, Vies des Saints pour chaque Jour de l'Annlee Tirees des Auteurs Originaux (Paris, 1722): — Epitres et Evangiles. des Dimanches, des Fites, etc., avec des Courtes Explications et Pratiques (ibid. 1736): — I.dees de la Perfection Chretienne (ibid. 1727). John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
